Musa Jega Ibrahim

Lead Economist, IsDB

Dr. Musa Jega Ibrahim is a Lead Economist at the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB). He started his career in 1992 as a Lecturer in Economics at the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Nigeria, where he obtained bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Economics. In 2001- 2007, Dr. Ibrahim was on fellowship study in the United Kingdom, during which he obtained another master’s degree in Economics (University of Edinburgh) and a doctorate degree (University of Strathclyde). He also served as Associate Lecturer and Research Fellow at the University of Strathclyde.

Since joining the Islamic Development Bank in 2007, he has been involved in various research and operation-related activities on international development financing. He also coordinated the preparation and publishing of the IsDB Annual Report between 2018 and 2021.  His main activity is conducting high-level macroeconomic research to understand the economic and social development challenges facing developing countries to guide IsDB intervention in development financing activities.

Dr. Ibrahim has published articles in journals, contributed book chapters and presented at conferences, mainly on macroeconomics, economic growth, sustainable development, and global poverty issues.
